    Registration

All are welcome. However, due to space restrictions, we kindly need you to register. Some financial support is available. To register and to apply for funding, please write to Yifei Zhu (zyf@umn.edu) before May 10, 2018.

Information for Visa, Travel, Lodging, and Special Needs

If you need a Chinese visa, there are two types you can apply for your visit: F visa (for academic trips) and L visa (for tourists). For the Chinese embassy in the US, information on how to apply, fees, processing time etc. can be found here.

The SUSTech campus can be reached from the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (40m taxi) or Shenzhen North Railway Station (10m taxi). Hong Kong is close to Shenzhen (1h shuttle) and has more international flight options. We will arrange pickups at the Hong Kong International Airport to the SUSTech campus on June 5. We will also make arrangements for you to return to that airport after the workshop. There is no need for a separate visa for Hong Kong.

If you plan to attend the Shanghai conference, between Shenzhen and Shanghai, there are two options.
    • Airplanes (2h30m): Please note that the rain season begins then and flight schedules can be quite unpredictable.
    • Bullet trains (8h, v = 190mph): Recommended! We will assist you with booking tickets.

For registered participants, we have reserved a block of complimentary rooms at the Guest House on SUSTech campus (check in June 5, check out June 10).

If you have any special needs (child care, dietary restrictions, etc.), please contact Yifei Zhu (zyf@umn.edu).
