HONG KONG AIRPORT TO SUSTECH
The most convenient entry from Hong Kong SAR to Mainland China is through Shenzhen Bay Port.
To reach there, coaches and limo services are offered at the
Coach Station, Arrivals Level (L3), Terminal 2.
(Among the providers, Trans-Island is good.)
Once you get through the Shenzhen Bay Port,
take a
taxi (around 30 min, 50 CNY)
from the taxi station to the
SUSTech Guest House.
Beware of scammers for car rides.
If you plan to spend a bit of time in Hong Kong, a recommended route is to take the
Airport Express
train to Kowloon Station (around 20 min, 105 HKD ticket at entry).
The station is located in a mall, called ELEMENTS, with self-service lockers for rental up to 24 hours
as well as coaches to the Shenzhen Bay Port (around 40 min, 52 HKD).
These services can be found in the
waiting area for Mainland coaches on the first floor of Fire Zone
(here Fire refers to one of the "five elements").
From this station, you may go anywhere in Hong Kong by
metro,
or the Kowloon area itself is interesting to explore.
SHENZHEN AIRPORT TO SUSTECH
It takes a 40 minute
taxi ride for around 90 CNY
to the
SUSTech Guest House.
Follow the signs to the Ground Transportation Center and go for the blue or red taxis,
not the green ones (not operating in destination area).
Beware of scammers for car rides on your way to the taxi station.
If you don't have heavy luggage, the
metro
maroon Line 11 to Qianhaiwan 前海湾 followed by
purple Line 5 is pretty convenient too,
but it takes longer (50 min, 7 CNY).
Get off at Changlingpi 长岭陂 on Line 5 and there remains
a short 10 min walk to the campus
(
map).
SHENZHEN NORTH RAILWAY STATION TO SUSTECH
It takes a 10 minute
taxi ride for around 20 CNY
to the
SUSTech Guest House.
Beware of scammers at the railway station for car rides.
If you don't have heavy luggage, the
metro
purple Line 5 is pretty convenient too,
just one stop at Changlingpi 长岭陂 (in the direction of Qianhaiwan 前海湾)
followed by a short 10 min walk to the campus
(
map).
TAXI SERVICE
There are two models running in Nanshan and Futian Districts at the same rate:
the red sedan (4 digits in plate number) and
the blue minivan (5 digits) which is fully electric and more comfortable.
Each taxi driver should have GPS on their phone and normally uses it.
Make sure the meter is on, and ask for a receipt
when you get off so that in case you forgot your belongings it'd be quick to get them back.
The staff at the front desk of the Guest House are happy to assist you to call a taxi.
When you return to the
campus,
Gate 3 is closest to the Guest House and Gate 1 closest to
the conference venue.
SHENZHEN METRO
Here is its website.
SUSTech Gate 1 is close to Tanglang 塘朗,
Gate 3 close to Changlingpi 长岭陂, both on the purple Line 5.
The most convenient route to downtown Nanshan or Futian is to go up along Line 5
to Shenzhen North Station 深圳北站 (in the direction of Huangbeiling 黄贝岭)
and then transfer to the red Line 4 heading south toward Futian Checkpoint 福田口岸.
Free wifi is available on trains.
For change to buy tickets, go to the helping desk at each station.
HONG KONG METRO:
Its trip planner generously reaches out to Lines 1-5 of the Shenzhen metro (the estimated journey time counts only the HK side).
